Brass
Brass is a metal that naturally changes color when exposed to air and water. It gains character with every use, and with a little care it will age slowly and beautifully.
A light wipe after contact with dirt or water is usually enough, but below you will find care tips for each type of piece. If you have a piece not covered here, or any concerns, please feel free to contact us.
contactFor pieces without a surface coating, if you would like to restore tarnished areas to the original bright brass color, lightly polishing the surface will bring back the shine and brighten the color.
* Recommended polishing supplies and tools
* On colored or tin-plated areas, polishing will remove the coloring as well, so we recommend nothing more than a gentle wash with baking soda and water.
* For earrings, please limit care to wiping with a dry cloth.
Accessory
Earrings, pierced earrings... These have a clear coating to prevent tarnishing. Wiping them dry regularly after contact with water or sweat will keep them beautiful for a long time.
Bangles, hair ties... The surface is left uncoated. With regular use, the brass develops a rich, deep patina over time. Wipe them dry after each use; for stubborn dirt, gently rub with a mixture of baking soda and water — this lightly polishes the surface and restores its beauty.
Objects
Incense Stand
This piece is colored. Normally, wipe it with a dry cloth. If it becomes dirty, wash it gently with baking soda and water.
Tray, Muddler, Spoon — Cutlery
Wash with water using a neutral detergent. Drying off moisture as soon as possible helps prevent sudden discoloration. For stubborn dirt, gently rub with a mixture of baking soda and water. Please wash colored pieces and the silver-colored tin-plated areas gently, without scrubbing.
Tin Re-plating
The tin-plated areas of the Tray and Muddler will gradually wear down with use. We can re-apply the tin plating to restore them. This service costs ¥2,000 (tax included); shipping costs are the customer's responsibility. Thank you for your understanding.
Bamboo
Chopsticks
These are finished with a wiped urushi (lacquer) coating. They can be washed with a regular neutral detergent. After washing, please dry them promptly and store them in a well-ventilated place.
