Since 2024, I have resumed making in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, with the Uchikawa district as my base. Looking closely at the origins of the materials we make from, and exploring the process by which a natural material becomes a work — these are the focus of my practice. Because Uchikawa is surrounded by bamboo groves, I work with bamboo through making-workshops and other activities rooted in the local environment.
From cutting the bamboo to preparing the harvested material for use in craft pieces, I carry out every step by my own hand.
